How to Play Match Pairs
Match Pairs starts with all cards face-down. Flip any two cards per turn: if the symbols match, both cards disappear from the board; if not, they flip back and stay where they are. The game counts your time and the number of attempts — finish all pairs in as few moves as possible. Easy deals 12 cards (6 pairs), Medium deals 20 cards (10 pairs), and Hard deals 30 cards (15 pairs). Your best result for each difficulty is saved locally in your browser.
Why Match Pairs Trains Working Memory
Match Pairs trains spatial working memory — remembering what you saw and where you saw it. Every flipped card is a piece of information you must hold and update: the symbol, its position, and its relationship to cards you have already seen. Fewer attempts mean a better mental map. This is the same skill you use when parking in a multi-level garage, finding your way in a new office, or remembering where you put your keys. A systematic strategy — always scan in the same order, and "anchor" symbols to positions — beats random flipping every time.
