How to Play Memory Training

The Memory Training game flashes a sequence of digits on screen for a few seconds, then hides them. Your task is to type the digits back in the exact order you saw them. Adjust the number of digits and the display time to match your skill level. Start with 6 digits (the average person's short-term memory capacity) and increase one digit at a time. You can also shorten the display time to make recall harder.

Why Memory Training Works

This game trains working memory — the "mental workbench" that holds information for a few seconds while you use it. Most people can hold 7 (plus or minus 2) items in working memory. With practice, you can push past this limit using chunking (grouping digits into familiar units like phone numbers) and the memory palace technique (placing mental images along a familiar route). Daily 10-minute sessions with deliberate difficulty increases can double your digit span within weeks.
